700th Village Post Office

Eureka! USPS has done it again, for the 700th time.Recently USPS hit a milestone by opening the 700th Village Post Office (VPO) located in San Francisco District in Eureka, CA, inside Scrapper’s Edge The Copy Shop and Scrapbook Shop.Scrapper’s Edge, is the perfect place for residents and visitors to pickup stamps and mail letters, packages, memorable photos and postcards. Customers can also take care of their printing and business services while mailing and shipping at the new VPO.VPOs are usually located in established businesses giving them the added retail advantage of providing customers convenient access to the postal products and services used most often by consumers.Scraper’s Edge owner Sondra Kirtley joined Pacific Area Vice President Dean Granholm, San Francisco District Manager David Stowe and Eureka Postmaster Mary Hopkins, in cutting the grand-opening ribbon.The Scrapper’s Edge VPO will offer Forever stamps, prepaid packages and Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes. Scrapper’s Edge is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.The Postal Service announced the VPO concept in July 2011 as a way to increase access to postal products and services in rural communities across the nation.To date, there are more than 700 VPOs open in the United States. The Scrapper’s Edge VPO is the first to be opened in Humboldt County.
